Orphanage

Through their 11-year run Orphanage managed a fine mid-level career in the field of classic doomdeath metal, releasing four albums and an EP during that time. The album reviewed here is the 1995 debut Oblivion, featuring an appearance by vocalist Martine Van Loon (who at the time seemed to be committed to singing for every Dutch doomdeath band she could). Oblivion was a well-executed doomdeath album, not radically different than others in the field but a good listen nonetheless. The band announced its breakup in October 2005.
