Overkill

This short-lived Los Angeles band is no relation to the much more popular thrash band Overkill, though the two bands came into being around the same time, and in fact there was enough confusion to force this band's record label, SST Records, to name the band "Overkill L.A." on later pressings of their album. That album, Triumph Of The Will, was released posthumously, as the band had already broken up due to the usual personal issues, as well as founding member Ron Cordy leaving to join Bitch. The bands punk root's are quite evident on Triumph, the band mixing prime punk with an rough, early thrash edge. Their other claim to fame was once opening for Trauma, at the very gig where Trauma's then-bassist Cliff Burton was recruited to join Metallica.
