Stone Vengeance
Stone Vengeance may be one of the first African-American metal
bands, and may well be the only such band playing Christian thrash
(the Christian angle is understated).
The band formed in 1977, settled on the present trio membership by
1983, and were prime movers in the fertile SF Bay Area metal scene
of the mid-eighties.
Fame and fortune eluded them, but they have persevered all these years
on their own terms.
Their discography is a bit disjointed, as it's not clear which albums
are compilations or reworkings of earlier material.
As heard on 1998's
To Kill Evil, the band seem most at home playing
pre-thrash speed metal, but not without flair and diversity, with punk,
70's rock, and funk making their presence felt throughout.
