Stampede
Featuring the father and stepson team of Reuben and Laurence Archer,
Stampede was a promising NWOBHM band that formed in 1981 and rather
quickly signed to a major label (Polydor), releasing two albums and
an EP.
As heard on the
Hurricane Town album, they were decidedly in the more
radio-accessible, hard rock side of the NWOBHM.
They continued to tour in the early-to-mid eighties but eventually
flamed out, with one of the Archer brothers moving on to
UFO
for a time
and the other members involving themselves in other musical activies.
In 2009 the core trio of the two Archers and bassist Colin Bond
decided to put the band back together, eventually expanding to a quintet
and releasing
A Sudden Impulse in 2011.
