Statetrooper
Statetrooper was formed in 1985 as a solo project for vocalist
Gary Barden, who had just left
Michael Schenker Group.
He recruited former
Wildfire
drummer Bruce Bisland, and eventually three more Wildfire
members comprised the lineup that recorded their self-titled
album in 1986.
Decidedly more in the poppy hard rock world than MSG,
Statetrooper nonetheless was a minor hit for the band,
but while the fans were behind the group, for whatever
reason they couldn't take it to the next level, and Barden
folded the band in late 1987, citing disillusionment with the
music industry.
As the years went by Barden realized that interest in the band
was still present, and buoyed by a 2002 re-release of the
album, reformed the group, with most of the original cast
along for the ride.
2004 saw the release of the band's second album,
The Calling.
They haven't been heard from since and are probably done.
