Vulcano

Vulcano is among the earliest of Brazilian extreme metal bands, alongside Overdose and (of course) Sepultura, having formed in 1981. Their first official release was actually a live album (entitled, simply, Live), with their first studio album, Bloody Vengeance, appearing a year later in 1986. Typical of extreme bands of the time, complex songwriting and technical musicianship were definitely not on display here, the band delving into messy thrash alongside traces of very early black metal, somewhat in the same league as early Venom. Yet their influence on later South American bands is undeniable, and thus their place in metal history is secure.
