Wytch Hazel
These UK rockers formed in 2011 and, after building their presence
over the course of a few releases, looks to have fully arrived with
2020's
III: Pentacost.
This is the sort of band that defines "retro" to a T, as the style here
is straight out of the 70's, with warm twin guitar harmonies from the
Thin Lizzy
playbook and plenty of nods to the more hard rock side of the early
days of the NWOBHM.
The songs aren't complicated, but they are well-crafted
and incredibly catchy.
Christian themes dominate the lyrics, overt but really
more positive/uplifting in feel rather than preachy.
Pentacost is a quite well-crafted album and could be a sign that the
band is ready to break into the mainstream.
