Zero Hour
Bay Area metallers Zero Hour debuted in 1999 with a self-financed,
self-titled effort, but really turned heads with the 2001
followup,
The Towers Of Avarice.
It's a classic in the technical prog metal field, as
unlike many prog metal bands who side toward the melodic and
forego the real metal, Zero Hour doesn't forget how to be heavy
and progressive at the same time.
They released a string of albums on the
Sensory
label in the 2000s, but declared themselves inactive soon after
their 2008 album and officially disbanded in 2013.
The
core of the band (brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton) kept themselves
busy elsewhere, once with
Death Machine
and later in
Cynthesis,
before Jasun reformed the band without his brother in 2020.
