BPMD
American Made brings four well-known metal guys
together to bash out a
set of covers of mostly 70's rock songs
(
Van Halen,
Ted Nugent,
Blue Oyster Cult,
Aerosmith,
and others),
with the project name simply being
the initials of the guys involved.
It's pretty much what one would expect, with
Bobby Ellsworth sounding just like he does in
Overkill
and Phil Demmel lending a more thrashy take on the tunes.
Most of these songs are instantly familiar to all yet are not often
covered, so in that sense it's a bit of a novelty --
the guys do a good job of treading the line between note-for-note
redos and straying too far from the originals.
This has all the earmarks of a one-time, just-for-the-hell-of-it
operation, but who knows, maybe they'll come together again
in the future.
