Barn Burner
The Montreal area has spawned many a great technical death metal band
over the years, but in Barn Burner we have something from the opposite
end of the metal spectrum.
Originally released in 2009 on the small Quebec label
New Romance For Kids before wisely being snapped up by
Metal Blade
in early 2010, their debut album
Bangers is stoner rock to a T, a beer-soaked, slightly Southern-tinged
riff-fest, bringing to mind any number of 70's and 80's acts
(just some that have been named by others are
The Sword,
Wolfmother,
Fu Manchu, and
Clutch)
without
sounding like any one of them in particular.
Surely songs titles like
"Beer Today, Bong Today", "Brohemoth", and "Fast Women" let you know
where this band's head is at.
This could be the start of something big.
