Crescent Shield
Crescent Shield was the third go-around for
guitarist Dan Delucie, originally in
New Eden
before branching out to form
Destiny's End.
That latter band produced two strong albums
before rather abruptly disappearing around
2001, but soon enough came the word
that Delucie had a new project in mind.
Along for the ride this time was former
Onward
vocalist Michael Grant,
as well as a
rhythm section with experience in the
American underground traditional metal field.
The style on
The Last Of My Kind, then,
was no surprise, as it's chock full of classy
riffs/solos from Delucie and strong vocals
from Grant.
Arguably this wasn't terribly adventurous for the
style, and certainly it wasn't very contemporary,
but there has always been a need for quality
80's-influenced traditional American metal,
and Crescent Shield fit that bill.
They managed two albums in 2006 and 2009, but Grant sadly
passed away in 2012, and soon afterward the remaining members
said they would no longer perform without him.
