Cryhavoc

Cryhavoc was formed in 1992 and went through at least two name changes (first known as Preprophecy, then Ravensfall) before stabilizing their lineup and style. In their demo days they were more a straightforward death metal band, but by the time of their debut album Sweetbriers they had adopted a melodic death metal style, mixed with a bit of Euro power metal, not particularly unique but not too bad either. The melodic death metal field has been crowded for a number of years, and while Cryhavoc isn't a clone of the usual bands in this field, they really didn't do enough to distance themselves from the pack either.
