Dew-Scented

With a lot of metal groups opting for generic band names, it's nice to come across a band like Dew-Scented, even if there appears to be little rhyme or reason why they chose such a name (according to the band themselves, it's an Edgar Allen Poe reference, for what that's worth). They managed ten albums over a remarkable 26-year career, with their style being crunchy, vicious, death-tinged thrash metal, clearly rootd in the 80's but with plenty of modern intensity and attitude, and topped by hoarse, almost hardcore vocals. They announced their breakup in the spring of 2018, the band wishing to go out on their own terms with a final tour ending in October.
