Diocletian

Named for a Roman emperor, Diocletian looked to be one of New Zealand's rising stars, playing a pummelling, dense brand of blackened death metal. They managed a handful of EPs and splits alongside three full-length albums from 2007 to 2014. Indeed, their last album, Gesundrian, received justified acclaim as one of the top albums of 2014. Unfortunately, the band broke up the following year.
