Gospel Of The Witches
It's been quite a road for vocalist Karyn Crisis.
She burst onto the metal scene in the mid nineties with
Crisis,
a band that seemed poised for long-term success but sputtered after
a couple of albums.
Post-Crisis, she spent a good deal of time away from the scene, and then
appeared in
Ephel Duath
during that band's final days, marrying guitarist Davide Tiso in the
process.
Finally she's back with her latest project Gospel Of The Witches,
and while husband Davide is here, along with a few other metal veterans,
make no mistake -- this is a Karyn Crisis showcase.
She's long been respected as one of the more versatile extreme vocalists
out there, being able to switch from graceful clean singing to a more
powerful style and then straight to death growls with ease.
And yes, all of those styles are present here.
The music itself might be described as a sort of experimental doom,
with the instruments coloring and setting the mood for Karyn rather than
being at the forefront themselves.
It's anyone's guess where she goes from here.
