The Haunted

With the legendary At The Gates coming to an end following the release of the landmark Slaughter Of The Soul in 1995, three of the members there decided to strike out in a new direction, forgoing the melodic death movement in favor of a more modern take on thrash, and The Haunted was born. And the public took notice from day one, the band enjoying instant success on their 1998 debut and the next several releases as well. Arguably their later output hasn't quite matched up in terms of popularity, though this is a frequent challenge for bands that have slogged it out as long as these guys.
