Intruder

Tennessee has hardly been a hotbed for metal, but Intruder was one band from that state, arising from the South in the mid-late 80's (first as Transgressor, then changing name to Intruder around 1987), putting out a debut release on the small Iron Works label before signing with Metal Blade for a few albums, joining a stable of similarly-minded thrashers such as Viking, Epidemic, Slaughter House, and others. Intruder wasn't radically different from these or other thrash bands of the day, but they were tight and energetic and enjoyable for the period. They faded away in the early nineties, reforming occasionally over the years for some reunion shows. The original lineup was active as of 2019 but guitarist Gregg Messick's passing in September 2020 may change matters.
