Krolok is one of a trio of Slovakian bands with overlapping
membership (the other two being
Remmirath
and
Malokarpatan),
all three starting with a black metal template but each reaching
in different directions.
They are arguably the closest of the three
to old-school black metal, but even
here it's a bit different, with a style
that's somewhat more murky and atmospheric,
though still undeniably black.
At any given time one of the three bands seems to be the one
that's currently doing something, and as of 2024 that would
be Malokarpatan, as Remmirath hasn't recorded since 2015
and Krolok's last album was 2021.
