Legions Of Doom
Legions Of Doom is essentially the continuation of the band
The Skull,
which itself was an offshoot of the mighty doom band
Trouble.
The Skull managed two albums and was working on a third, but founder/vocalist Eric Wagner
passed away in 2021 before the album could be completed.
Guitarist Lothar Keller and bassist Ron Holzner
(another former Trouble member)
wanted to keep the flame alive, and so with the Wagner family's permission,
the third album material was reworked, new membership was found, and the fittingly entitled
The Skull 3 was released.
Like The Skull, LOD specializes in classic Trouble-inspired doom, and while Wagner would seem
to be unreplaceable, two metal veterans in Scott Reagers
St. Vitus
and Karl Agell
Corrosion Of Conformity
have stepped in and filled Wagner's shoes quite capably (Wagner does appear posthumously on one track).
The Skull 3 serves as a moving memorial to Wagner's legacy but also stands on its own,
hopefully not the last we've heard from this project.
