Lyzanxia
Lyzanxia are one of a stable of quality French extreme metal bands,
and another band that once featured drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who's
pretty much the Belgian version of Gene Hoglan.
Apparently their earlier works were more rooted in the death metal
category, but they really aren't in that mold now, as on
their fifth album (2010's
Locust),
the band plays a form of modern melodic death/thrash metal with metalcore
tendencies, with vocals that at times harken back to Devin Townsend during
his
Strapping Young Lad
days.
Having been around for some fifteen years as of this writing, it's clear
the guys know what they're doing, as
Locust clearly feels like a mature
band hitting on all cylinders.
An above-average effort in the melodic death metal genre.
