Mantic Ritual
The 2000's were teeming with young upstart retro thrash bands,
all bursting
with boundless energy and every one of them reliving 1985 as if their
lives depended on it.
One such band was Meltdown, and their 2007 debut,
the self-released
Executioner,
embodied the style and spirit of these bands,
basically crossing
Kill 'Em All
with
Bonded In Blood
(vocalist Dan Wetmore doing a fair Paul Baloff impression),
and per usual one can't give high originality scores but they were
quite capable at their craft.
Like fellow retro thrashers of the time such as
Bonded By Blood
and
Fueled By Fire,
they were soon snapped up by a bigger indie label (
Nuclear Blast
in this case).
They changed name to Mantic Ritual in 2008,
re-recorded the
Executioner album and released it a year later,
but broke up in 2012.
In 2020 most of the members reunited, and a new EP is due in 2022.
