An apt band name here, as one would expect an Italian
group named Macbeth to play some sort of gothic metal, and
in fact that's exactly what Macbeth is about.
The band was formed in 1995 by drummer Fabrizio
Cislaghi, who remains the lone holdover from the early
days as the lineup has changed frequently over the
years.
Reviewed here is the 1998 debut,
Romantic Tragedy's Crescendo,
a gothic-metal-by-the-numbers affair, as the trademarks
of the genre (beauty/beast vocals, extensive keyboards,
grandiose arrangements) are all here in force, albeit rather
generic at times.
No doubt the band has matured since then, as (to date)
three more albums have been released.
