Obituary

Formed in 1985 as Xecutioner (hence the name of their 2007 album, Xecutioner's Return), Obituary was one of the leading bands of the then-rampant Florida death metal scene of the late eighties (along with Death, Morbid Angel, Deicide, and others) and has carved a successful career for themselves playing brutal, old-school death metal. After a string of successful albums in the nineties, they announced their breakup in 2000, with John Tardy's disinterest in touring apparently a major factor. Trevor Peres soon started up a new band, Catastrophic, while Donald Tardy joined Andrew WK's band some time later. But by 2004 the band was back in business, with several albums released since then. More recently, the Tardy Brothers started a side project, called simply Tardy Brothers, though they have stated that that project won't interfere with Obituary.
