Planet Gemini

Planet Gemini embody the play-what-you-want, not-for-fame-or-profit ethic as well if not better than anyone. This band (originally a duo, now just one guy) has been releasing music on their own terms for years, usually if not always making the songs available for free (as of this writing, the last two releases are available for download from their official site). And what of the music? Classic underground doom, no more and no less, with all of the familiar influences and soundalikes (Black Sabbath, which goes without saying, as well as the combined rosters of Hellhound and Rise Above) firmly in place. But this isn't just rehashing old riffs and tunes -- this is truly a first-rate doom project, easily as good as many signed acts. Well worth a listen for doom fans.
