Ramesses was formed in 2003 when the rhythm section of
(bassist Tim Bagshaw and drummer Mark Greening)
left that band to do their own thing, with Bagshaw
switching to guitar and bassist/vocalist Adam
Richardson rounding out the new trio.
Musically the band isn't far removed from EW, with
tempos and riffs at times just a shade more straightforward
(though not much different -- this is still raw doom)
and Richardson's distant deathy growls the key differentiator
between this band and EW (for the time being, the comparisons
are inevitable, and not without merit).
EW was never the most stable of bands, so it remains to be seen
how Bagshaw and Greening fare here, but for the time being
things are looking pretty good.
