The Red Widows
The international trio The Red Widows
(based in London, the current configuration consists of a Brit,
an American, and a Spaniard)
debuted in 2017 with an EP entitled
Rising, featuring a
doom-inflected stoner rock/metal style.
On their followup, the full-length
Fuzzification,
they flip the styles, going full-on ponderous
Sleep-ified ponderous doom,
retaining the psychedelic aspects that the album title implies.
Fuzz consists of five long songs (9-16 minutes) and frankly
there isn't a lot of variation, but that fuzzed-out guitar tone
works wonders, and the somewhat distant vocals add a nice
flair.
