Riot City
The 80's may be in our rear view mirror by now, but leave it to
bands like Riot City to keep the flame alive and remind everyone
how great that era was for metal.
These Canadians formed in 2011 and finally released their debut
album,
Burn The Night, in 2019.
The
Judas Priest-inspired
artwork is the first clue as to where these guys come from,
though they are less aping any one band then simply reliving
the best of American 80's indie power metal, with bands
like
Riot V
(who may or may not be responsible for the name similarity),
Agent Steel,
and any number of speed/power bands from the era providing
influence.
Per usual with retro bands, originality takes a back seat to
nostalgia, but these guys execute well enough that that's just
fine.
