Saturday Night Satan
Saturday Night Special grabs you from the start, with their fun
band name and the eye-catching giant cat adorning their debut album
All Things Black.
The style is faintly occult-ish hard rock/metal with a clear retro
vibe and horror-inflected lyrical themes, though nothing seems to
be taken too seriously.
Kate Soulthorn's clear, melodic vocals give the songs a catchy,
accessible (but not poppy) edge, the tunes are quite infectious even
if not terribly original.
Currently a duo fleshed out by studio help for the album, who knows
where this might lead, but
All Things Black is a joy to listen to,
never straying too far out of its lane but delivering quality occult
metal.
