Serpentine Dominion

Serpentine Dominion is a project that brings together three extreme metal veterans that joined forces while playing with their respective bands at the Mayhem Festival in 2009. The project was kept under wraps for a time, and the trio finally emerged with a self-titled album in 2016. The album doesn't sound quite like any of the members' bands yet it's not too far removed from any of them either, sliding somewhat more toward metalcore than straight death metal. All three guys predictably put out great performances, in particular Shannon Lucas's hyperactive drumming deserves a special note. Solid if not particularly surprising or genre-expanding.
