Skelator

Skelator hails from Seattle by way of San Diego, having formed in SD in 1998 and later regrouping to the Pacific Northwest in 2006. Their earlier days were focused on a Slayer-esque thrash style, as heard on Give Me Metal Or Give Me Death (a 2008 re-release of an earlier demo), but over time they've adopted a more speed/power metal direction. Having slogged their way through several albums in the 2000's, they seemed to have broken through with 2019's Cyber Metal. The 80's speed/trad metal influences, mixed with a bit of Manowar brashness lyrically, are in full force, with vocalist Jason Conde-Houston high-pitched style being compared to several well-known vocalists (the soundalike to these ears is Agent Steel's Jon Cyriis). The songs are crisp, tight, catchy, and well-composed. Perhaps they're finally on the way to bigger things.
