Sentry
The underground metal world lost an icon when
Manilla Road
mainman Mark Shelton passed away in 2018.
The surviving members weren't ready to give up the ship
(the band was actually touring at the time of his death),
and so following a tribute concert in 2019, a new band
Sentry was formed, with all three surviving MR members along with
guitarist Eric Kaldschmidt, who played guitar at that tribute.
As expected, 2024's
Sentry is full of Manilla Road-isms, with that
band's dark, epic, 80's style intact, and vocalist Bryan Patrick
even channelling Shelton's singing style as he did on the last few
MR albums.
Sentry is a fitting tribute to Shelton as well as forging a path
to continue the Manilla Road legacy.
