Solution .45
Solution .45 is the latest band featuring vocalist
Christian
Älvestam, who's sung in several bands over the years but might be
best remembered for his work in
Scar Symmetry,
a band he left in 2008.
For Aeons Past is the 2010 debut album here, and in many ways the
Scar Symmetry blueprint is in place -- this is prototypical modern
melodic death metal through and through.
Älvestam
continues to impress with his seemless transitions from deathy growls
and screams to a quite competant clean vocal (mostly on the choruses).
There's even one song ("Lethean Tears") that's practically a power ballad,
and really showcases his clean voice.
Elsewhere, there's the typically crystal-clear modern Scandinavian
production that keeps everything in check, and to their credit there
are some influences from outside the melodic death scene to keep things
interesting.
This genre has been crowded for years now, but there's no reason why
Solution .45 can't grab their piece of the pie.
