Twelfth Gate
Twelfth Gate was formed in 2000 by two former members of
the Chicago metal band
Syris.
Like Syris, their goal is to further the cause of powerful,
traditional 80's-inspired American metal, and by that standard they've
succeeded.
Scott Huffman continues to excel as a vocalist, here sounding
a bit like a slightly lower-pitched Warrel Dane
(
Nevermore), and the band itself is a bit heavier than Syris,
slightly more modern and technical in their approach, but still
strongly and proudly rooted in true power metal.
While they haven't recorded since 2006, bassist Rob Such kept the band
alive with varying members until late 2011, when core members Huffman
and Rich Knight returned to the fold bent on reviving the band full-time.
Their comeback show is set for December, with possible recording in the
future.
