Valpurgis Night
A modern band reliving the classic 80's indie metal scene?
England's Valpurgis Night aren't the first and won't be the last to
go this route, and while
they may or may not be the best at it, they certainly are far from the
worst.
Bands like this rely more on nostalgia than innovation, and that's not
necessarily a bad thing, as these guys have the chops and enough
songwriting skills to keep things interesting.
This is dark, traditional 80's metal, almost semi-doom in tempo and style
at times, with a good amount of bite on songs like "Death Collector"
and the almost
Candlemass-ish "Valpurgis Night".
Manilla Road
is a band that, while not a direct soundalike, comes to mind at times while
listening to these guys.
Good stuff.
