Valtozash

To quote the great Monty Python: "And now for something completely different". Valtozash proudly proclaim themselves as "the first Australian jazz-metal band", and that might be selling themselves short. Australian or not, there really isn't any band anywhere that has attempted a full-on fusion of big-band-era jazz (behold the number of horn players!) and metal, such that the two styles are equally and effectively woven together. Sure, a few bands have integrated a trumpet or trombone successfully into a metal structure (Sear Bliss is one of the best at this), and occasionally a band will incorporate a full orchestra to good (non-novelty) effect (Waltari, to name one), but Valtozash takes it to another level. It's bizarre, cool, jarring, definitely unique, and to these ears, quite fascinating.
