Virus 7

Virus 7 was another side project led by Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Shermann, and if nothing else it satisfies the basic requirement of a side project, which is that it doesn't sound much like the member's main band (what's the point of forming a side project in the first place if it sounds just like the main band?) No, Sick In The Head bears little similarity to Mercyful Fate, instead opting for a more modern, aggro-thrashy power metal sound, with aggressive, hardcore-ish vocals further distancing this from anything Fate-ish. Not really a bad album at all, but not a great one either, as it seemed to come and go with little fanfare and in retrospect it isn't a terribly memorable album. As Shermann side projects go, Gutrix was a much better proposition. Like many side projects, this is presumed to be a one-off and therefore the band is listed as broken up.
