Eidolon

Formed in 1993 by the Drover brothers Glen and Shawn, Eidolon was one of Canada's entries in the pure metal field. This band packs a punch, solidly entrenched in the crunchy power/semi-thrash field, placing them neatly alongside bands such as Nevermore, Steel Prophet, or labelmates Jacobs Dream. Though they occasionally rev up to thrash speed, most of their songs are slow to mid-paced, with the requisite crunchy riffs and impressive solos by Glen Drover. Still, this is a quality band that hasn't quite gotten the exposure it needs to step up to the next level. The Drover brothers jumped to fame and fortune by joining Megadeth, which probably hastened the end here though one last album, featuring noted lead singer Nils K. Rue, was released in 2006 after their move. The band broke up in 2007.
