Entwine

Finland seems to have a glut of mainstream-ish goth metal bands these days, and it's this field where Entwine dwell. The band formed in 1995 and originally was more in the death metal camp before mutating towards a more emotional, melancholoc style. The closest comparison would probably be HIM or To/Die/For -- relatively simplistic song structures with a somber feel, featuring a midrange vocalist that at times conveys sadness and emotion quite well, though at times he sounds like he's trying just a bit too hard. Gone, the second of their three albums thus far, occasionally suffers from saminess but is well constructed and should satisfy goth metal fans, with the more recent Time Of Despair reportedly of similar style.
