Shakespeare In Hell
An intriguing idea from this Louisiana band -- taking
the works of William Shakespeare and melding them with
a metal base.
Musically the band draws from gothic metal with some
black metal touches, giving the band a distinct
European flavor, with both blackened rasps and
death-ish growls featured in the vocal department.
The band has a nice flair for songwriting and
the musicianship is fine as well, with perhaps the
only criticism being a slightly thin production, expected
for a self-financed band.
With two albums under their belt, the band had plans for
a third that would not feature Shakespearean lyrics, but
the events of Hurricane Katrina threw the city in turmoil, and
the band was shelved and never revived.
Four of the five members later formed a band called Menagerie,
recording two albums in the 2000's.
