Black Manta
The Maryland/DC area has been cranking out doom bands for the
last couple of decades, and Black Manta is one of those bands,
with a 2004 EP, the oddly titled
Fuck Them All But Six, to
their credit.
Vocalist Skull is one of those typical garage doom singers,
forceful if not really possessing a great voice, while musically
the guitars are noticeably fuzzed out, giving them almost a
psychedelic vibe, though the emphasis is on simplistic, ultra-heavy
riffs.
This isn't going to change the world or anything, and it's anything
but polished (especially in this age of slick, ultra-produced albums),
but for underground doom one could do a lot worse.
