Lazarus
2007 was clearly the year of retro thrash,
as evidence by a slew of young new bands
like Wisconsin's Lazarus.
Their debut,
The Onslaught, is chock full
of early
Exodus-styled
crunchy goodness ("Who I Really Am" is a prime example)
and snarly, hardcore-tinged thrash vocals.
It's still unclear what the shelf life of bands like this is --
when the fad inevitably fades, will these bands move on
or fade away as well?
For now, enjoy the nostalgic ride with groups like Lazarus.
In the summer of 2008, the band signed to
Metal Blade
Records, and also amended their name to Lazarus A.D.
The Onslaught is set for a re-release on the label later in the year.
