Boasting three-fifths of the current lineup of the great
At The Gates,
The Lurking Fear's 2017 effort
Out Of The Voiceless Grave
takes a look backward for influence,
steering clear of the melodic death metal that ATG pioneered in favor
of a more old-school death metal direction,
meaning mostly breakneck tempos and short, to-the-point songs with
plenty of prime deathy riffage.
As such, it's far less of an innovative album and borders on homage,
but still with the class and professionalism that one might expect
from seasoned vets.
