Nightfall

Nightfall is one of the well-known Greek extreme metal bands, along with Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, and Necromantia, all of whom are member-related one way or another. Their debut album, Parade Into Centuries, was also the first album for the then-new French label Holy Records, and it is claimed that it is the first international release by a Greek band. The band recorded steadily in the nineties, switched to Black Lotus Records for a spell, and then on to Metal Blade. Their early work is somewhat typical of a style that seems to be prevalent among Greek bands, meaning that they play a dark, gothic, somewhat doomy metal, with gruff death vocals. By contrast, 2003's I Am Jesus is far less doomy, but still squarely in the gothic metal camp.
