1914
Ukraine's 1914 have been making waves ever since their 2015
debut
Eschatology Of War and, now three albums into their
career, have garnered significant critical acclaim.
Musically they blend hardened, slow-to-mid-paced riffs, harsh
blackened-vocals, and the occasional symphonic flourish,
lending a air of sophistication even as the riffs bludgeon
the listener.
Lyrically they're all in on World War I (hence the band name)
and related warfare-relate themes, showing a great deal of
depth and conviction.
If they can overcome the turmoil in their home country,
1914 should continue to mature and progress.
This is a solid pick for majestic, doom-ish extreme metal.
