Apocalypse
Apocalypse was one of a handful of early Swiss thrash bands that
made some noise during the late eighties as thrash metal blossomed
worldwide,
along with
Drifter
and
Poltergeist.
They showed a great deal of promise with their self-titled 1988 debut,
displaying a more technical style of thrash than the norm.
They frequently toured with
Metallica
back in the day, bolstering their standing in the metal world, but
for whatever reason they failed to take the next step to metal stardom.
Waiting for five years for a followup album (1993's
Faithless)
surely did the band no favors, as whatever momentum they had built early
on had faded by that time, and sure enough they were done soon afterward.
