Children Of Bodom

Formed by Alexi Laiho and Jaska Raatikainen and named for an infamous murder case in their homeland (The Lake Bodom Murders), Children Of Bodom quickly became one of the top metal bands from Finland. By the early 2000's their potent and oft-imitated blend of progressive-laced speed/power metal with ferocious black vocals proved to be a hit with metal fans the world over. The band continued to prosper in the following decade but started to wane, and they broke up in 2019 after several of the core members, including Raatikainen, departed. Co-founder Laiho intended to continue and wanted to use the band name, but that was rejected for legal reasons, and so he instead decided to continue as Bodom After Midnight. Unfortunately Laiho passed away in 2020, leaving both Children Of Bodom and Bodom After Midnight as finished.

Recent album: The Final Show In Helsinki Ice Hall 2019, released on December 15, 2023.
