Chain Lightning
This British combo dates back to the late eighties, formed by guitarist
Jake Williams (at the time going by the name Lin Tremayne, part of his
real full name) around 1988.
Members came and went and a couple of demos were released in the early
nineties, but it wasn't until 2007 that a debut album,
Bolt From The Blue, was released.
This is prime 80's-inspired British rock/metal, even infusing a bit of
the NWOBHM sound, nothing complicated really but effective nonetheless,
with vocalist Derek Hodd (a one-time, short-lived singer in
Cloven Hoof)
providing clear, strong vocals atop Williams' riffs.
This is really a throwback, definitely not a contemporary sound, but the
world could certainly use some more bands embracing the old classic
metal style.
