Goatess
Goatess is the latest band to feature vocalist Christian Linderson
(who often goes by the name Chritus), a man who who's made contributions
to a number of Swedish doom bands, as well as one of the grandfathers
of doom in
St. Vitus.
Formed in 2009 originally under the name Weekend Beast, the band
switched name to Goatess in 2012 and debuting with a self-titled album
a year later.
Goatess doesn't stray too far from Chritus' other bands, as this is
effective, soulful, stoner-inflected doom metal, with plenty of fuzzed-out
riffing and Chritus's vaguely early-Ozzy-inspired vocals in typical
form.
Sweden has no shortage of fine doom/stoner bands and Goatess ranks with
the best of them.
A second album, with the rather cool title of
Purgatory Under New Management, was released in 2016.
