Kittie

Kittie has endured more than their fair share of ups and downs during a turbulent career. Inevitably their gender was, and in many cases still is, the focal point of the band, as all-female bands are rare in metal in general and particularly so for nu-metal. Really, the concept of women playing metal has long since passed being considered a novelty, and so when judging the band on musical merits, the fact is they were/are a pretty good heavy nu-metal band, and not just a all-girl gimmick band. They've been quiet since last touring in 2013, and while there is an upcoming documentary slated for a spring 2018 release, they may be done as an active band.
