Last In Line
Last In Line was formed originally as a
Dio
tribute band, taking their name from the 1984 Dio
classic where, indeed, three of the four members
played together with of course Ronnie singing
(the fifth member from that effort, keyboardist
Claude Schnell, was also initially on board here, but was
let go prior to this band's first album).
Strangely, and whether by conscious effort or not, this band
doesn't really sound like prime Dio at all, instead going
for a more standard hard rock/metal feel.
Vocalist Andrew Freeman is a fine vocalist, but he too sounds
nothing like Dio (not that he should have to), further distancing
this band from the namesake and origins of the project.
Taken on its own terms, Last In Line is capable and fine,
but perhaps not living up to the standards expected of its members.
